Hi, I’m Jess! The person behind Salem Smith Photography. I photograph weddings, couples, and families across Oregon with a laid-back approach that helps people feel comfortable being themselves in front of the camera. I care most about creating photos that actually feel honest to you. I’ll guide you when you need it, keep things easygoing, and make sure your experience feels just as good as the photos look.

about Me
I’m the kind of person who stays calm no matter what’s happening which turns out to be a pretty useful trait on wedding days. I’m usually the one reminding everyone to breathe while also hyping you up every five seconds. If you book a session with me, there’s a very high chance you’ll hear me yell “YES GORGEOUS” at least twenty times.
When I’m not photographing weddings, I’m probably hanging out with my fiancé and my 7-year-old son, walking with our dog Jinx, or curled up playing cozy video games while our cats Kiki and Babou pretend they run the house. I’m also a huge sports fan (especially basketball and football) and I'll yap all day about them if you let me.
My job isn’t to expect you to magically know what to do and where to put your hands, it’s to create an experience where you can relax, feel comfortable, and actually enjoy being together. I’ll guide you the whole way while making sure your photos still feel natural and true to you.
At the end of the day, I care less about stiff perfection and more about documenting your relationships in a way that feels honest, warm, and alive when you look back on them years from now.
